What the Adaptive Check-In Gate handles

Four things happen at the lane, all of them recognition. The kiosk, the barrier and the sign are your integrator's — what we remove is the part that needs a person to read, type, and check.

Plate Identification

Einar cameras read the plate as the vehicle pulls up and post it to your check-in system in under a second — so the booking is on screen before the driver speaks.

Travel Document Reading

The Osmond Advanced Passport Reader captures the NFC chip and MRZ at the lane and authenticates the document — the slowest part of a manual check-in, done in seconds.

One Identity Record

Plate, document and lane are bound into a single time-stamped record with image evidence, stored in GDS and exposed through documented APIs. Wiring that record into your check-in system is an integration we scope with you — every port asks for it differently.

Exceptions Made Visible

Low-confidence reads, unreadable documents and mismatches are flagged with their evidence, so your staff handle the handful of cases that need a human instead of every vehicle.

A truck arrives at the kiosk. ANPR reads the plate and posts it with the document data to the check-in system, which clears the booking and releases the lane; the LED panel and the driver-monitor sign turn from Wait to Go, and the barrier lifts. From pull-up to release — no operator at the booth, no clipboard, no paper. The kiosk, sign and barrier in this lane are the port's own equipment.

HOW IT WORKS

Check-in, validation, boarding — in four moves

The Adaptive Check-In Gate supplies the recognition half of the transaction — plate and travel document — and your check-in system supplies the decision. From driver pull-up to vehicle release: typically 35 seconds end-to-end, with no agent on the line.

Identify

Einar cameras read the plate as the vehicle arrives at the kiosk, and the read is posted straight to your check-in system — so the booking is on screen before the driver lowers the window.

Confirm

The driver confirms the passenger count at the kiosk and presents travel documents to the Osmond reader, which captures and authenticates them. Low-confidence reads are flagged with their evidence for a supervisor.

Assign

Your check-in system matches the record to the booking and makes the call. Its lane LEDs show the deck assignment and its barrier opens — driven by the decision, not by the camera.

Settle

The identity record — plate, document, lane, timestamp, images — is stored in GDS and available through documented APIs. Your ticketing system settles the transaction and updates the manifest.

Read the travel document at the lane.

As EES and ETIAS add checks for non-EU travellers, the data side of every crossing can slow the gate. The Osmond Advanced Passport Reader by Adaptive Recognition captures and validates the document right at the kiosk — and the same GDS platform stores it.

We supply the recognition layer: the cameras, the readers, the engines that turn a moving vehicle into a record, and the data platform underneath. The lane itself — its civils, its power, its steel and its screens — is procured and installed by you or your integrator, to your own standards and suppliers.
