Country of registration decoded from both plates at 99.7% — essential for cross-border corridor checks and booking match.

Make and model of the accompanied combi-trailer identified in the same pass — the visual fingerprint for tariff and fleet rules.
Classification
Sorted into vehicle categories at 98% — semi, road train, tanker, box, and more.
Speed
Lane-accurate velocity from 30 to 70 km/h, stamped on every event — the throughput proof and the basis for WIM correction.
Occupancy
Persons in the cab counted through the windscreen at 93–95% — accompanied vs unaccompanied handling decided before the ramp.
ADR & IMO Hazmat
Reads orange ADR placards and IMO Class signs. Every dangerous load is logged and flagged before it reaches the yard.
Dimensions by LiDAR
Height, width, and length measured by LiDAR in the same pass, so the real unit is known before the ramp.
Side-Scan Condition
Four flank cameras stitch a full-length IR panorama of both sides — the damage baseline for the crossing.
Weigh-in-Motion
Optional WIM clocks gross weight, per-axle weight and axle spacing at lane speed. Overweight loads are flagged before they hit the deck.
OCR (Trailer / Container Code)
Optional ACCR reads ISO 6346 and intermodal codes from trailers and containers — confidence-scored and attached to the freight event.

HOW IT WORKS
Inspection, classification, and weighing in one corridor
Trucks roll through at a near-constant 30 to 70 km/h. Every sensor fires in sequence and the complete freight event is assembled and posted to the Globessey Data Server before the unit clears the gantry.
Approach
The truck enters the free-flow corridor. Front ANPR and the ADR reader capture the plate and any dangerous-goods placard in a single frame.
Scan
Four side-scanners image both flanks while the overhead LiDAR measures height, width, length, and vehicle class.
Weigh
Where the gate is fitted for it, weigh-in-motion strips clock gross and per-axle weight at lane speed — no stop, no weighbridge. The strips themselves are third-party equipment, and many gates run without them.
Record
Plate, hazard, dimensions, weight, occupancy, and images assemble into one time-stamped freight event, posted to the Globessey Data Server.

KPIs are the acceptance thresholds our deployments are contracted to meet. Vehicles outside the measurement envelope (0.6–2.6 m wide, 1.5–4.5 m high, 2.2–21.5 m long, axle loads 400 kg–20 t) are still recorded — the contracted accuracy figures simply no longer apply.

The workhorse of the lane: one front unit reading plate, nationality and cab occupancy, plus four side-scanners stitching the full-length condition panorama. Dual global-shutter sensors (colour + IR), self-adjusting optics, and a built-in eye-safe laser trigger. Made in EU, NDAA compliant.

Rear-facing ANPR that reads the back plate and country of registration as the unit leaves the gantry — closing the front-and-rear match so no plate is missed and the record stands up to dispute.

Gate Control PC
The rugged, fanless gate computer that turns cameras into a subsystem. It syncs every trigger, runs the Carmen ANPR, ADR and classification engines, assembles the complete freight event — plate, hazard, dimensions, weight, images — and deploys it to the Globessey Data Server, buffering locally if the link drops.
The same lane also carries a 3D LiDAR scanner and front and side LED illuminator kits, and — as options — high-speed Kistler weigh-in-motion, an OBU reader, ACCR container reading, and a smart LED panel for flow control. Carmen ADR decodes the orange plate to UN number, hazard class, and packing group in the same pass — no stop, no manual placard check.
A trailer that's legal on the motorway can be impossible on the deck.
Road and sea freight stopped being separate planning problems. The same unit can clear one national corridor, meet restrictions on the next, and still not fit a given ferry deck once weight distribution, axle loads, deck clearance, ramp angle, driver accompaniment, dangerous goods, and unaccompanied-trailer handling come into play. The EU's Weights & Dimensions rules cap international traffic at 16.5 m semi-trailers and 18.75 m road trains, 2.6 m wide, 4 m high, 40 tonnes (44 in combined transport) — but member states derogate freely for national traffic. So a standard EU envelope is not a Nordic HCT combination. A 25.25 m EMS unit — up to 60 tonnes, legal in Finland and Sweden and in trials across Denmark, the Netherlands, and parts of Germany — is not a 34.5 m Nordic road train. The UK and Ireland set their own length, height, and trailer definitions. And every vessel keeps its own limits — lane metres, deck heights, ramp angles, axle loads, stowage zones, DG segregation, and accompanied versus unaccompanied handling.
The weak point is the pre-gate, not the vessel.
Most terminals still plan from booking data that can be incomplete, out of date, or entered in a different language and format. Length, height, width, gross weight, axle load, occupancy, DG class, driver status, and route eligibility all need to be known before the unit reaches the ramp — not after it is already in the flow.
Adaptive Freight Gate measures the real unit.
In one moving pass, ANPR reads the plate, LiDAR captures height, width, length, and vehicle class, weigh-in-motion clocks gross and per-axle weight, and Carmen decodes the ADR/IMO placard. Verified ground truth is written to GDS — the record a road-corridor and ferry-deck rule check needs to reconcile the booking against physical reality and clear or flag the unit before it enters the terminal flow. Not a barrier, but a real-time compliance, safety, and capacity-planning point that keeps working whether traffic is rolling, stopping, or queuing.

Weigh-in-motion is an option, not a fixture — plenty of gates run without it. Where it is fitted it is third-party equipment, and its accuracy holds only while it is calibrated regularly against a certified weighbridge.

Where weigh-in-motion is fitted, every truck is weighed in motion — per-axle and gross, at lane speed. Overweight loads are flagged before they reach the deck — and every weighing is time-stamped and exportable as weight-compliance evidence for enforcement and audit.

Each crossing writes a structured, time-stamped record — plate, trailer or container ID, hazmat class, weight, and images — through documented APIs. Share it with customs and enforcement on open standards, with no re-keying and no proprietary export.
Pre-arrival matching
GDS stores every gate read. Your integrator connects it to your own ticketing, TOS, or SAP to check each booking against what actually arrives — so a cleared truck flows straight through and a mismatch is caught before the booth.

What operators ask about the freight gate.
Does the truck have to stop?
No. It's a free-flow gate: trucks pass at a near-constant 30 to 70 km/h without stopping or tailgating. The full inspection — identity, hazard, dimensions, weight, occupancy and images — assembles before the unit clears the gantry.
What happens to a vehicle outside the measurement range?
It's still recorded — every event is captured. The contracted accuracy figures apply within the design envelope (0.6–2.6 m wide, 1.5–4.5 m high, 2.2–21.5 m long, axle loads 400 kg–20 t); above those limits the unit is still logged, the contracted accuracy figures simply no longer apply.
Is weigh-in-motion included?
WIM is an option. When fitted, high-speed Kistler weigh-in-motion clocks gross weight, per-axle weight and axle spacing at lane speed — no weighbridge, no stop. Without it, every other measurement (identity, hazard, dimensions, class, occupancy, condition) still runs.
